When You Walk Through the Door, You Probably Expect Your Fur Baby to Come Running to Greet You,

which they probably do. You then survey your home and find they had to go to the potty and you weren’t there to take them out. They did what Mother Nature says to do. “When you gotta go, you gotta go.” Your happiness to see your Fur Baby turns to anger and maybe sometimes rage. You decide to punish this Precious Fur Baby because of your senselessness.

WHY are you punishing this Precious Fur Baby? They had to go to the bathroom, or they got bored and you left the trash out instead of putting it out of reach or they got bored and decided to go exploring and you didn’t close the closet door and they found your shoes. The worse thing of all, you decided that since you were having such a good time, there was no need to stop and go home to take care of your responsibility as your Fur Baby isn’t in any danger since they are indoors.

How Is This the Fur Baby's Fault?

You accepted the responsibility to adopt them. They are not a stuffed toy, they have feelings, they have needs, they hurt when you hit them, they are a Precious Little Being. They look to you to just LOVE them, have Patience with them, feed them, set boundaries so they know you Love them, and most of all the TRUST you build with them will last a lifetime when you are a responsible and educated Pet Parent.

When You Decided to Keep the Lifestyle You Had Prior to Going to the Rescue and/or Shelter,

adopting a Fur Baby into your life isn’t something you need and/or want to do. Adopting a Precious Fur Baby is similar to having a human baby. The difference between the two is one doesn’t and won’t speak English, grows their own clothes, will stay home with you when they grow up, never be into drugs (unless you do the cruel task of giving them drugs if you’re doing drugs) and they will never kill you for your money to buy drugs.

Being a Responsible and Educated Pet Parent Isn’t JUST Adopting a Fur Baby,

making them adapt to your schedule or even show other people what a cute Fur Baby you have (that’s an added benefit not the reason), it’s to change both your lives. It needs to be a win-win situation for both, however, more for the Fur Baby, as you will reap rewards from them ten times more than you give them. (They will always Love you no matter what. However,  just remember most of them have gone through more  emotional and possibly physical abuse than you’ll ever know. So no matter how bad your day is or what they’ve done while you left them alone, just Love them till the cows come home (i.e. forever).

So, next time when an accident (of any sort with your Fur Baby) happens, just calmly talk to them and tell them, “It’s not their fault, it’s Daddy’s or Mommy’s fault.” Instead of punishing them, just Love them as you were the one who was gone for a long time.

You may not understand it now, however, in time, you will see that your life changed in ways you never imagined (learning to be more loving, having more patience and so much more!)
