Understanding Your Fur Baby Is Key
Many people opt to adopt a Cat because they believe they’re easier to care fur and understand than dogs. This is a common misconception. The responsibility is just as great as that of a human baby. The only difference? They don’t grow up and start speaking your language. They’ll keep meowing and it’s up to you to be able to interpret them correctly.
Educated and responsible Pet Parents can recognize the different meanings behind the many variations of their Cat’s tone and can read their Cat’s body language fur ultimate care. Cats can be much more difficult to read, understand, and care fur. We recommend educating yourself on the basics first by taking courses at Pet Care Basics 101 and then adopting your Feline Fur Baby. A short hair Fur Baby can be different from a purebred long haired Maine Coon or Persian, as far as grooming is concerned. A short haired Fur Baby will require less grooming than a long haired Fur Baby.
If you can’t confidently answer these next few questions then we encourage you to enroll in our Pet Care Basics 101 Courses so you have a full understanding of what to expect with your cat and if adding a Fur Baby to your family is going to be right fur you.
Ask Yourself...
- Have I familiarized myself with typical cat postures and their meanings?
- Do I understand the typical dietary needs of a Cat?
- Is it clear to me how to properly pick up and hold a Cat?
- Do I have enough space fur my Cat? Am I aware of whether or not I'm allergic to adopting this Fur Baby?
- Am I okay with some of the risk that comes with adopting a Cat? (i.e. unwanted scratches on furniture....etc)
- What books, blogs, and videos covering Cat information have I digested prior to adopting a Cat? Am I willing to invest in classes fur my future Fur Baby?

Look to Your Local Shelter Instead of a Breeder
Preparing your home fur the Feline Fur Baby needs to be as you would prepare it fur any feline you are bringing home. No matter the breed, this Fur Baby only wants a furever home and to feel safe, secure and to know that they will never have to live on the streets again nor have to hunt fur food and not have a Pet Mommy or Pet Daddy who will come home to them,
All Fur Babies you encounter at a rescue or shelter usually have had a hard life and don’t trust humans. You will need to be patient and just loving. Give your new Fur Baby all the space they need to adjust to a new home, new environment and new humans. Again, just be patient, loving and give them plenty of space to adjust.
Reach out to your local shelter or rescue to find your new Fur Baby. Your local shelter or rescue may or may not be able provide you with info about any health requirements so you can anticipate medical bills, dietary needs, and more.
Most Feline Fur Babies are territorial and would prefer to stay within their home, besides it’s safer fur them and they will not pick up diseases from other Fur Babies, who have no Pet Mommy or Pet Daddy. It’s much easier fur them to develop the habit of staying in instead of having to teach them a good habit to replace the bad habit of being able to go outdoors. Besides they will live longer being an indoor Fur Baby.
Ask Your Shelter:
- About your desired Cat's current health standing and any medical issues. The Fur Baby could have special needs that you'll want to make sure you're prepared to take on.
- Get to know the personality of the Cat. Make sure it will mesh well with your needs and household. Some Fur Babies are more active than others!
- Ask about the Cat's energy levels and how you can keep them moving at home. Fur example, some Cats prefer rope toys over squeakers.
- Understand dietary needs, have you accounted fur expenses in your budget?
- Go over the Cat's grooming routine and requirements to make sure you're capable of keeping up with their needs.
Prepare Your Home
Feline Fur Babies usually like their space comfy and with lots of places to hide, play and scratch to sharpen their claws. Many people believe they won’t have to adjust much to their lifestyle when a Feline Fur Baby comes home. Just remember it’s really their home, you just pay the rent, take care of them and just love them! In return, you get lots of love and cuddles!
Adopting a Feline Fur Baby is not just about equipping your home with a litter box. litter, wet and/or dry food, a water bowl and two food bowls, one fur wet and one fur dry. Prepare your home with plenty of scratching posts, multiple litter boxes if you have more that two, a myriad of places to perch, and plenty of catnip toys (not all Fur Babies like catnip, so test them before you invest in catnip toys and catnip), balls, and other toys fur your Cat to play with (A lot of them like little furry mice.)
Lastly, it’s extremely important to consider your Cat’s medical care. We cover medical issues as well as some symptoms to look fur. Some Cats may need humidifiers, air purifiers, calming plug-ins, and more. These topics are covered in Pet Care Basics 101. You will get questions answered. You will want to know about these basic subjects before you bring your Feline Fur Baby home.
Fur Baby medical care and common health issues are just some of the topics we cover in our Pet Care Basics 101 Courses. Make sure you have the tools you need to keep your Fur Baby happy and stress-free by investing in both your knowledge in Pet Care Basics 101 Courses and your Fur Baby by being educated fur them.!
We Recommend:
- Raised Feeding Bowls. These are a great way to make sure your pet can ingest food safely and comfortably as well as water!
- Cat Shelves. Cat shelves can be a great way to add perching areas for your cat and help them exercise. You can place them wherever they will work in your home which makes them so convenient.
- Comfortable bedding. Make sure you've got plenty of comfortable lounging options around!
- Your Cats love the sun, no matter the breed. Make sure you invest in something like a Cat hammock or a window ledge that attaches to your windows or sun beds. you can attach to your windows fur them to warm up as needed. Be sure to monitor your cat's sun exposure, especially if they have light features such as blue eyes!
